Flower.jpg

Flower

We would like to share with you the short but sweet story of our little Flower.

We were contacted regarding a pup that had been born with a cleft palate only 24 hours earlier.

The team at F&FF decided we would jump into action and try and give little Flower a chance at life at least.

Flower was collected and taken straight to the vets, they advised us that the cleft was substantial but due to her size at only 1 day old, they were unable to give anything further at this early stage.

Our little Flower went into foster care where she was being hand reared with 2 hourly feeds. Little Flower began taking her feeds and appeared to be doing well but sadly this was not to be.
In the early hours of Thursday the 5th December we received a message from foster mum that little Flower was becoming very lethargic and unresponsive, so with the support of the management team her foster mum rushed her to the vets.
Little Flower received the very best care but it wasn’t the news we were wanting, sadly little Flower had developed aspiration pneumonia and despite us all wanting to do the best for her, the percentages of her survival weren’t good and it would cause this sweet little girl to suffer should we undertake antibiotic treatment.

We at F&FF wouldn’t allow this beautiful, sweet little girl to suffer and the very sad decision by both the team and her foster mum was to let her gain her wings.
So in the early morning our sweet little Flower gained her wings whilst in the arms of her foster mum.
F&FF would like to thank her foster mum and foster fur brother for taking such care and showing our little Flower such love in her short little life, we are forever grateful.
Thank you to everyone involved in our little Flower’s short life, run free beautiful girl we will see you at the rainbow bridge x

🐾💜🌹 🌈 RIP Flower 🌈🌹💜🐾

Petal.jpg

Petal

On the 13th December the rainbow Bridge gained one precious baby more.

Tissues at the ready.

It's with tears I write on behalf of the team that sadly we lost a battle.
With 4 tiny paws, small enough for the palm of your hand our gorgeous girl was collected. When the call came in a wonderful lady (who knows who she is) dropped everything and got into a car with her amazing mum to whisk our little girl to safety. But something wasn't right.

Petal, was named and rushed to the vets immediately. The vets were lovely and upon examination discovered her poor eyes barely opened, were ulcerated. How awful at such a delicate and vulnerable age. How could this tiny pup have gone through so much already? We vowed to do all we could.

We arranged 24hour care. Incubators, tube feeding, qualified vet nurses in relay to ensure we gave her our all.

A phenomenal volunteer came forward, offering to transport our precious cargo.

And then in the arms of the first person to look at her and show her love, she took her last breathe. Petals' lungs couldn't fight any further.

Today we weren't just fighting for Petal. You may have noticed her name, Petal was indeed from the same breeder as our darling Flower.

So, as a team we mourn. But our efforts were never in vain. As rescues, regardless of breed or name we will continue to fight for those with no voice. We will continue to drop everything. We will continue to trek across the country. Time and time again. Because every life matters in every rescue.

Had this precious baby not struggled for days before being contacted, she may still be here. And I guess that's what hurts.

In their names, we will continue 🥀

Wade+Rainbow.jpg

Wade

We have to bring you some very sad news.

Wade now Beau was due to have his eye removed. Once under anaesthetic, the vet discovered a large tumour in his throat that was bleeding. Given Beau was diagnosed last year with terminal lymphoma, he felt the kindest thing for Beau was to let him carry on sleeping.

Beau’s family are obviously devastated that their beloved boy won’t be coming home, but wanted to do what was best for him.

We can’t thank them enough for taking this very neglected boy into their hearts, and giving him the most amazing home. Beau knew nothing but love for the last 14 months, and had the best Christmas, opening loads of his presents.

So please light a candle in honour of this very special boy.

RIP Beau

Bubba+Rainbow.jpg

Bubba

We are sad to share with you that our Beautiful Boy Bubba has crossed rainbow bridge

This handsome little fella came in to Frenchie & Friends Foundation as an emergency case back in April 2020, where it was believed he had meningitis. Bubba landed on all four paws into a fabulous foster home who loved this little man and gave him all he needed, including taking him to his numerous medical appointments.

From these appointments we found that there was far much more wrong with Beautiful Bubba than we could have known, with many conversations with the specialists he was put on medication and we were advised to give him the best of what life he had left and so the search began for the perfect home for him with amazing help from The Animal Team this perfect home was found.

Bubba from here moved to his forever foster in August 2020 to an incredible lady. Here he continued to live his best life, making new friends, even bagging himself a girlfriend. He continued being a cheeky little monkey and all that met him adored him.

Sadly Bubba took a down turn the last few days and after enjoying Christmas with presents and treats and being spoilt rotten he let his mummy know that it was his time and today he gained his wings.

As a team we are truly heartbroken and would like to send our love to all of those whose hearts he stole especially his Foster Parents, Caz of The Animal Team and his absolutely incredible forever Mummy.

Run free now handsome Bubba, free of pain with the other doggy’s who will be there to guide you.

Sapphire+Rainbow.jpg

Sapphire

It is with extreme sadness & a very heavy heart that we have to inform you all that whilst undergoing surgery for a routine spay our beautiful girl gained her wings.

We would like to thank the vets that went over and above to try and save her, but sadly it could not be done.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to sapphire's family, whom as you can imagine are absolutely devastated.

She was the most beautiful girl who came on leaps and bounds with her amazing, dedicated & loving family.

Run free across rainbow bridge little one and look after all our angels already there. Xx

Pebbles.jpg

Pebbles

As a team our hearts are heavy and we are truly saddened to share with you all that our beautiful Pebbles has gained her wings

This little ladies issues were just far too much for her and her behaviour really deteriorated as a consequence.

On vet advice the team agreed it would be kinder to let her run free across rainbow bridge to be with all the other doggies. She is now free from pain.

Osbourne Sleep.jpg

Osbourne

Osbourne was surrendered as we were told he had toy aggression and was guarding different rooms in his home. We had an experienced volunteer who went to meet Osbourne prior to coming into us, and felt, as we did when we watched the videos provided, we could try to help him overcome these issues.

Unfortunately, once he came in his demons were becoming exasperated, and his aggression was getting out of control. He had no triggers that a behaviourist could work with as the aggression would come out of nowhere.
We spoke to a number of rehabilitation centres throughout the UK, but they were either full, or unwilling to help him, as he had now bitten a number of people.

We felt it right to contact his owners, who surrendered him, to offer them the chance to take him back, but as young children were in the home and his aggression was starting to escalate, it was deemed unsafe for him to return.

We had two independent behaviour assessments carried out for Osbourne, and because of the level of aggression, we couldn’t take the risk of him causing serious injury to anyone else. We can’t say categorically if he had a neurological problem without having an MRI, but this boy couldn’t even be stroked or touched. Sadly there was only one kind thing we could do, and let him go with peace and dignity.

Thank you to our amazing foster mum for being with him at the end, you did the most selfless thing and he knew how much you loved him.

Osbourne fly high and meet all the other special rainbow babies

Chanel

We have some extremely sad news to bring you.

Our mum and daughter duo, Chanel & Paris, went to the vets to be spayed. The operation appeared to have gone to plan, apart from the vet observing Chanel had quite a lot of mucous. On returning home they settled well, and didn’t give us any undue reason to be concerned.

Sadly, during the night Chanel passed away. Understandably her foster family were heartbroken to discover her in the morning.

This poor girl had been overbred, and along with her daughter found themselves being sold cheaply on a selling site, as they were no longer useful. We saved them, and since then they have known nothing but warmth and kindness with their foster family.

We are having Chanel privately cremated, and as per her family’s wishes, being returned so they can scatter her ashes in the garden she loved, so she will always remain with them.

Samson

We are devastated to share that this absolutely gorgeous boy has gained his wings.

Samson was a very troubled boy with severe guarding issues but foster mum adored him all the same as when he wasn’t choosing to guard things, he wanted nothing more than as many cuddles as he could get.

The team still think the best thing that he stole was foster mums toothbrush, he looked so very proud of himself when he done this.

Run free over rainbow bridge, you were too special for this world.

Galaxy

As a team we are devastated to say that this little beauty has sadly gained her wings.

Galaxy was only in rescue a very short time. She was rushed to the emergency vet a couple of days after going in to foster, whereby they treated her for pain. The following day she was no better and a further trip to the vet was made, she was referred to the specialist for an emergency MRI where it was found that she had several ruptured discs in her back.

It was agreed with the vet that due to her paralysis, being incontinent and the chances of a successful surgery being slim that it was kinder to let her stay sleeping.

Gem

It is with tears in my eyes I have to tell you all that the gorgeous has gained her beautiful heavenly wings.

Monday night Gem's Foster family contacted us to say she was leaking pus and we instantly suspected pyometra (infection of the womb) so she was rushed to the emergency vets.

Once the vets opened our precious girl up on the operating table it was discovered she was riddled with cancer in her cervix, vulva, bladder and colon and as a team we had to make a heartbreaking decision to let her continue sleeping.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing Foster family who only had this beautiful girl for a short time and put their whole lives on hold to care for Gem. They loved her as if she had always been family and we are so grateful Gem had 10 amazing days with them.

Bates

Rainbow Bridge has gained another one of our wonderful dogs.

Bates lost a back leg at birth due to his cord being wrapped around the leg. Last week foster mum noticed some changes in his behaviour so we got mum to book him an appointment with the vets.

Devastatingly when the vet completed a thorough check she noted that in the remaining hind leg the knee cap was completely misplaced with bone rubbing against bone. Surgery was sadly not an option for him.

He was given strong pain medication and went home with mum to be spoilt and surrounded by love.

On Friday a member of the team drove and collected Bates and mum to make his final journey across rainbow bridge.

He was surrounded by love at every moment. Our hearts go out to all those who have had the pleasure of meeting this handsome boy.

Bon Bon

This beautiful girl was unable to walk properly. As ever we got her straight to the vets to be seen. She was given strong anti inflammatory meds and her pain relief.

Her foster mom sat with her giving her all the rest she needed. She began to have tremors a couple of hours later and so went straight back to the vets. By this point she had no reflexes or feeling in either hind leg. She was given very strong pain relief and went home with one of the vet nurses.

She had another turn in the night and Mel was on hand to care for her. She has been in the vets and her meds continued intravenously to keep her comfortable in the hope that the inflammation would settle.

Sadly we received a call this afternoon to say that she was not toileting and did not want to get up at all and her condition deteriorating. At this time she had also lost her happy. We made the decision, in consultation with the vets that this little lady was ready to pass over rainbow bridge.

She is the bravest loving gentle little girl ever. Run free baby girl no more pain.

Cupid

Cupid came into rescue, surrendered for being pregnant. It was all a lie, she was not pregnant but in fact due to her poor genetics and conditions she was kept in had severe neurological and behavioural issues.

Despite the incredible work of her patient foster family, who were getting bitten daily, behaviourist input and vets this little girl was too far gone to be saved and could not be rehomed.

She has gone now to to be free of torment.

Blake

Well, this is not the update we were expecting or wanting to give, but the rainbow bridge has gained one more precious angel.

Blake, one of our recent additions to Frenchie and Friends, who was in foster, went in for a routine castration.

The operation went OK, and he came home as expected, but unexpectedly started to have a seizure. His Foster Dad acted quickly and rushed him to the emergency vet, where he was kept overnight. He came home the next day but again started to have a seizure and was rushed back to the vets. Blake was suffering from cluster seizures and was unable to come out of it.

The decision was made that the kindest thing to do would be to let him cross the rainbow bridge, with Foster Dad at his side to comfort him.

We can not thank his Foster Dad enough for love and care that Blake was shown while he was with him, and our thoughts go out to him at this difficult time.

Blake, we will forever miss your beautiful nature and little wiggly bum. Run free, gorgeous boy.

If only the rainbow bridge had visiting hours, we would go there every day.

Baby

This beautiful young girl gained her angel wings at just 8 months old.

Baby was suffering from cluster seizures. She had bloods done and the vets wanted to monitor her over a period of time to ascertain any patterns or causes of her seizures. She was doing so very well and went over 8 weeks with no seizures at all. She had fun, made new friends and even represented the rescue by attending an event at Pets At Home with some of the team.

Sadly Baby had a big seizure, she was rushed to the vets and continued to cluster seizure with very short periods in between and despite best efforts the vets had to really fight to get her even partially stable. Her little body could not cope with the strength and amount of the seizures and on vet advise it was agreed that beautiful Baby would cross rainbow bridge.

As a team we are absolutely heartbroken for this little girl, her foster family and the veterinary team involved in her care. Everyone done all they could for her but it was just too much for her. She was obviously too precious for this world.

Run free over rainbow bridge beautiful Baby, you were so very loved. But now you can run and play and be free.

Bali

I write with tears streaming down my face about this beautiful little dude that was too precious for this world.

Our wonderful Bali deteriorated dramatically late last night and was showing signs of respiratory distress.

With the devastating results of his X-rays on Friday we could not see this incredible little dog suffer any further, we made the decision (alongside the vets) that none of us wanted to make, to let him go, to let him be free of pain and suffering.

He made his journey across rainbow bridge surrounded by love

Bali, Little Dude, you were too precious for this cruel world. We fought so hard for you.

You stole the hearts of so many people. We will never forget you.

Rosita

We unfortunately have to share with you all some devastating news.

Our little Rosita was found to have a heart murmur upon her vet health check. She had a heart scan and the results had everyone in tears.

This poor little love had aortic stenosis and an aneurysm. Meaning she was not a candidate for surgery and could not have any medication to help stabilise the heart.

Following advice from the vet we were left with the devastating decision to let Rosita gain her Angel wings. She passed this morning surrounded by nothing but love.

We cannot thank her foster family enough for giving her the most amazing, love filled, incredible week of her young life and being there beside her at the toughest ever point. Words will never be enough for our gratitude for all you have done for her

As a team we are feeling broken right now so please be patient with us we tried so hard for you little one.
